In 2018 Burningsuit were pleased to work with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), based in London, on Power BI training for their team. Since the course, some of HMICFRS employees have signed on for further training with our DAX for Power BI course.

About HMICFRS

Established in 1856, HMICFRC is located next to the Home Office and is a senior institution within policing. They are responsible for inspecting and reporting on the performance of Home Office police forces. This work is undertaken under section 54 of the Police Act 1996 and under Royal Warrant under the Crown.

Such work involves accurate and detailed reporting with in-depth analysis and the secure sharing of data.

Our role

Our relationship with HMICFRS
We were contacted by Business and Planning Manager Karen Donachie to arrange private training at their premises in Power BI. We discussed and researched the colleagues aims to tailor our training to meet their goals.

Showcasing specific benefits of Power BI
We provided training appropriate for various levels of users to ensure employees had the necessary skills for the Power BI software to become a more productive and efficient reporting tool in their business.

As the team were very familiar with Power BI, we focused on advice for more advanced users, tailored to how they use the software. We were able to highlight more efficient methods and showcase the variety of implementation advice, using queries, creating dashboards and data import.

What they achieved through training
HMICFRS employees now have a greater understanding of which sources can be analysed in Power BI and the most efficient and secure ways to share the dashboards they create. We hope this will have long term benefits to ongoing data management and analysis.

Business and Planning Manager, HMICFRS
This was an excellent course which was well run and informative. Alison and Stuart put us at ease and we were encouraged to ask questions to ensure that we understood all the various parts of Power BI that are relevant to build and share reports.
